Requirements for Entry
- Entrants for the Best Consumer Fixed Broadband category must be able to prove, on request, that a significant proportion of the service entered is specifically focused on consumer users
- Entrants must register their services and other requested information for the appropriate award(s) via the registration form linked to from www.ispaawards.org.uk by January 22nd 2010
- As part of the registration process the entrant will agree to have installed and registered 25 isposure agents and remain installed for the duration of the monitoring period, February 14th 2010 to May 1st 2010.
Overview of technical testing:
Epitiro will test and monitor broadband connections using the isposure™ application that resides on a registered user’s PC (Windows XP or Vista only). The isposure agent operates silently in the background and does not interfere with a user’s broadband experience during its testing. Specific measurements made are as follows:
- Downstream throughput
- Upstream throughput
- HTTP speed
- DNS lookup time
- Ping time
Value-Added Section
In addition to technical testing, entrants to this category are required to submit a value-added form, which will assist the judges in selecting the winner of the Award.
The judging criteria and questions are available below. Please download the value-added form below and submit to awards@ispa.org.uk by 30th March 2010.

- Geographical availability
- Packages information
- Value added services
- Email offering
- The level of cap on the entrants' broadband service
Bearing in mind the judges criteria, entrants will be asked to answer the following questions using no more than 200 words per section
1. How does your consumer fixed broadband service offer value for money?
2. How do you ensure the safety and security of your customers’ online experience?
3. Outline the benefit to consumers of the flexibility of your contract and pricing options.
4. Describe how you manage your networks to ensure you maintain quality of service.
5. What further characteristics distinguish your service from that of your competitors?
